[Product Review] Azio Levetron Mech5 Gaming Keyboard

I am aware my desk is messy.
I'll start off by saying every keyboard I've owned before this was a standard keyboard, so obviously this is better than any I've owned previously. Now, I won't be elaborating on things that are mentioned in the product description when buying it. So yeah, let's get this short review coming along!

I ordered this keyboard from newegg for about $95 (currently $110), I guess. At first, I was reluctant on paying over $40 for a keyboard, but I decided "it's on sale, it has free shipping, and my current keyboard just died and gave up on me after the hundredth drink was spilled on it. Why the hell not?" I mean, according to the product's description, this is also spill-resistant or whatever. So I guess I won't have to worry about that, right?

Anyhow, everything else about the keyboard was on-point. 11 extra macro keys (with a switch to make the five on the left-hand side execute different commands), with every key programmable. The six macros on top of the keyboard can slide above the F-keys, up to F9, for flexibility. It slides just right, too. Not too easy that you might accidentally slide it while playing a game, and not too hard that you need to hold the keyboard down to move it. All the keys feel amazing, in that you need just the right amount of pressure to use them.

Volume control, Windows on/off key, two USB ports (I guess four if you count the ones on the sides used to connect the numpad, which is by the way, movable), and yeah.

But wait, is it all that amazing?
I found only one definite problem I had with it. The numpad is unable to execute Alt-codes. You know, to make symbols, and use other characters not on the keyboard. But that's not too big of a deal, I suppose.
Aside from that, I can't tell if it's the fault of the keyboard or the fault of Windows, but Prototype 2 stopped working after I plugged this bad boy in. I don't feel like making sure by reconnecting my old one in, so yeah. If someone has the same problem with a game, then it's no coincidence (funny, 'cause there was a similar line I literally just heard hours before this that one of the guys in R-15 said).

BANG!

Lastly, props to Azio for making my RMA very easy and without problem. When I got the keyboard the first time from newegg, the enter key did not work. It was dead on arrival. I contacted Azio and they were very cool about it.

I guess there isn't much else to say.
I highly recommend this keyboard. For the price, the specs it has is too good to be true. If only each key was backlit, then it would be perfect. I like lights.
And I figured this post was too different from my usual posts, so I had to throw in some Anime flare.

  1. A better and more efficient way to type symbols is using a dead key layout. Macros are meant more for awesome kickass super fast combos is games.
